Hello, I am Olivia and I am Fleet Phoenix’s vocal and performance tutor. I have been teaching at The Point since June 2019 but I attended as a young person for many years prior to becoming a volunteer youth worker.
As a soprano, I have been performing in choirs and as a soloist for most of my life. I have a particular interest in classical and show music but I am able to provide guidance on a variety of styles and genres and give advice about technique and delivery.
I began vocal tuition with Kate Coombs in 2009 and trained under her for four years, during which time I was awarded grade certificates from Trinity Guildhall and the Royal College of Music. I also attended Ann Bauer School of Drama where I studied Choral Speaking, Comedy Acting, Mime and Tragedy.
Further to my private tuition, I studied and hold GCSE and A-Level qualifications in Music (A) and Drama and Theatre Studies (A) respectively, and a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts (Distinction).
Whilst I was a student at Calthorpe Park, I competed as a member of their Show Choir, who performed at Disneyland Paris in 2009 and 2012 and as a member of the Chamber Choir, who were awarded First Place in their division at Frensham Heights Music Competition in 2012 and the Mid-Somerset Music Festival in 2013.
At Farnham Sixth Form College, I formed and led a small group of vocalists who performed for the Mayor and the members of Waverley Borough Council before going on to read English Literature at Royal Holloway, University of London, where I recently graduated with First Class Honours. Despite studying English, I continued to sing whilst at university and began teaching at The Point in June 2019.
